Sora Wallet App
Soramitsu, 2023
Sora operates as a technological framework and a decentralized financial system built on blockchain. The goal of Sora is to revolutionize the traditional central banking concept through self-management, digital asset preservation and transfer, as well as a voting mechanism for decentralized project finance.
Project scope
Develop and design a cross-platform mobile application to deliver Sora Network features to end-users. Users can vote for projects, track the activity of their selected projects, and utilize their wallet to store, receive, and send Sora tokens.
My role
We started by defining the minimal set of features that we will need in the application and created an information architecture around them. I've created several draft prototypes while working on brand assets and exploring visual style.
For onboarding slides, I've worked with an illustrator to ensure that we will have a consistent brand message. Additionally, we collaborated with Jonathan Barnbrook studio to create the Sora font, adding a unique touch to our brand identity
Design rationale
Visually the product had to be friendly and approachable, as it was intended to be used by mainstream users, not blockchain enthusiasts.
From the user experience perspective all feature of the application are self-contained in their respective tabs, so new features could be added, or some features could be turned into separate application. Most of the function of the app could be reached in on or two taps and popular functions are upfront.

Furthermore, we dedicated efforts to crafting a font that strikes a balance between a digital feel and human touch. Sora typeface was designed to capture Soramitsu's spirit and heritage resulting in a type family with cues of low-resolution aesthetics and early screen typography but without nostalgia, as every decision was considered towards the crisp digital environment of today. The particularly big x-height combined with evidently generous counters turns the family into a convenient tool for app and web interfaces, where clarity and effectiveness at any size is an imperative.
